You have been blocked for using WP:AWB in violation of policy. Whist your bot edits appear to be good faith it is standing policy to block all ip's and non clearly marked bot accounts using a bot program on Wikipedia. Where did you get this AWB that lets you override the authentication? -- Tawker 07:02, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- First, there is no official policy regarding the use of AutoWikiBrowser; There is only the policy that the program makes for it's own use, one which should not be enforced by administrative action. Second, AutoWikiBrowser is not considered a WP:BOT; This has been defined and explained numerous times, in numerous situations. Third, WP:AWB is open source, so anyone can freely modify it to do as they need to, authentication included. (Note that I stopped distributing my authentication-less version) I'll save the user the trouble and add the template for him, in violation of about 6 rules myself. --Avillia 17:57, 3 May 2006 (UTC)
- Unblocked after explaination but it is policy to disallow unauthorized usage of AWB and hence the block was justified. With the power for disruption that AWB can cause, its pretty damn important to know who has access to an account that can use it. This block was done with the consensus of administrators, who do believe that the applications policies to pass on to Wikipedia, andd was not in violation of blocking policies. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tawker (talk • contribs).
