Wikipedia:Schools/Arguments#Keep. Get an account, if for no other reason than to be recognized as a non-vandal. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 06:49, 8 December 2005 (UTC)- GEH! I STRONGLY protest the assertation that IPs are vandals, or the assumption of that. I *WILL NOT* get an account solely to satisfy such people. 68.39.174.238 06:51, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- When I say "recognized", I allude to the fact that a username entry would be easier for a human patroller to recognize as a contribution from a trustworthy editor, rather than incurring simultaneous scrutiny by six or seven patrollers. Also, while it would be debatable to say "most IP users are vandals" (because I suspect a large portion of the IP-user vandalism is caused by relatively few actual people), it not debatable to say "most vandalism does come from IP users." Thus, you should, really, take no offense to this. — FREAK OF NURxTURE (TALK) 07:10, 8 December 2005 (UTC)

- Unsure Well, what we want to defend is the ability of anonymous users to edit. You have an identity (which is the scourge of modern society as far as I'm concerned -- well, at least you don't have some godawful user page). You can't very well point at your contributions and say, "See?" because if unregistered editing were turned off, people like you would just get an account. So no loss. What has been proven? On the other hand, I don't know of a better way to make your point, and I do think it needs to be made, because the way things are, unregistered editing is slowly getting more and more restricted. So, I am unsure. 70.30.114.149 01:24, 19 July 2006 (UTC)

- In Between I've seen the work you've done, and I have to say, I'm quite impressed—especially concerning reverting vandalism. You've contributed a lot to Wikipedia :). I just wanted to say, I do want you to make an account but I also am also, at the same time, won over by your strong resolve that you're not creating an account to show us Wikipedians that not all IP addresses are vandals or such, and won't make an account to as you said, "to satisfy such people" and/or to become an admin.
