[edit] External Links - Dog Articles

Hi 67.165.172.102. I've noticed you're adding quite a few external links to many dog articles. Please make sure you are not affiliated with these links. Submitting links to your own websites is against Wikipedia policy. Image:Monkeyman.pngMonkeyman(talk) 16:47, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

No. I'm just trying to make it easy and quick to find related websites. Nothing more. I found the format I'm using on another dog article and liked it. I thought it'd be nice if the others wre like that too only SirIssacBrock seems to disagree with me and would rather the external links to the dog articles be a hodgepodge to make it harder for the average user to wade through them and find what they want. I also thought the purpose of external links was to list related sites to help educate people and here he is editing them out on the Dogo Argentino. What gives? An eucational site that surpresses education of the general public?
There is a standard format for the external link section here. As long as your link formating adheres to this you'll be fine. Image:Monkeyman.pngMonkeyman(talk) 17:04, 5 March 2006 (UTC)
Wikipedia is not a collection of links; it's primarily an encyclopedia. So WP's goal is to provide info about the "what" of an article title--e.g., "what is an argentine dogo?"--not where to get one, nor where to chit chat about one, nor where to buy stuff related to one, nor cute fan sites about them, etc. And any primarily commercial sites are out (such as sites that are covered with ads right up front). So sorry for all the work--but a lot of it's going to have to go away. Elf | Talk 19:52, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dogo Argentino

It wasn't better, please don't use that format. Signing your messages with ~~~~ is important too. SirIsaacBrock 16:49, 5 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dogbreedinfo links

The reason those links are usually removed is because the site is covered with ads. Please don't add them back in. Thanks. Elf | Talk 05:23, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] External link formats

Also, could you please format the external links section like this (also notice the capitalization & spelling...)? thanks.

Ugh!

User talk:67.165.172.102 05:28, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Well, the preferred format is using subsubheads which is even uglier. If you don't do it while you're working on them, someone else will have to come along and redo them all. So I know you're putting a lot of work into this, and I appreciate how much work it is, but please be respectful of wikipedia conventions and other volunteers' time. Thanks. Elf | Talk 05:36, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

Good-bye. I used to like Wikipedia, but not as much as I USED to.

[edit] Stargate Atlantis & Stargate SG-1

Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks. Ardenn 21:59, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

I'm not adding commercial links or links to your own private websites to Staragte, Stargate SG-1, and Stargate Atlantis. None fo those sites are mine. They're other people's who I though were interesting enough to add. Why on Earth would I own that many sites? Moron. Thanks for so poignently bringing this to my attention. -Liz

Please read WP:ATTACK and WP:CIV. Calling someone a moron isn't appropriate. IrishGuy talk 22:09, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

Be aware, being rude and using foul lamguage is against wikipedias rules. PS: I.ve attached a welcome message which may help you.
