[edit] Your recent edits substituting "Dais" for "Base"(2 July) of Trooping the Colour

Thank you for your edits to Trooping the Colour, but this one was misguided; accordingly, I have reverted your edits, re-instituting "Base" for "Dais" throughout the article. For a further explanation please see the talk page. -- FClef 23:20, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

I am copying this to you here: Many thanks for quick reply and for your forbearance. Have you got a user name? If so, you need to sign your talkpage comments by using four tildes. A tilde is the ~ mark (as in Spanish.) That will bring up your name at the time and date. -- FClef 13:32, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits of Trooping the Colour

Dear 62.56.98.120, please do not do fine tunings unless absolutely necessary. It is important to establish an article and not have what Wikipedia calls "edit wars" - see their page WP:WIAFA.

I may know little about army practice and happily defer to you on that. However copy-editing is my strong point (doctorate in English) and I also have my diploma in music - so this is where the music interest comes in.

I have spent hours dealing with what was originally an authoritative article, although badly written. I have worked extremely hard getting this article into shape and would ask you not to unpick it unless there is a good reason. Can I refer to your recent edit of March Past in Quick Time, which was ambiguous. It has been lots of extra work for me to fix it.

If you want to discuss the article please send a courtesy note and let us take matters up at Talk:Trooping the Colour. Indeed, please reply to this at that page.

So I won't bother you on this page in the future, but to clarify: on Talk:Trooping the Colour

Incidentally you mentioned the army - are you in the UK army? You also mentioned a program - did you attend it this year? I rather liked the ceremony this year - first one I've been to in years, but (horrors) did you see the horse going AWOL and almost knocking the Colour Sergeant over at the start? (just as H.M. drove onto Horse Guards Parade) -- FClef 17:28, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Hi - I'm back on here just to say thanks for your reply - the bit about the colours was great, it was something about the neutral marches that seemed a bit fluffed. A - ny - way......

What do you mean, no.2s? I was sitting in J stand having applied purely by chance for a ticket.

I understand that HM apparently said "it's part and parcel of life" when the C/Sgt traumatic incident was brought up to her following the ceremony. He did brilliantly, I agree, not only to hold on to the Colour but also to keep himself upright. Was it an Adjutant's horse?

Please put Talk:Trooping the Colour on your watchlist (you may need to create an account - i.e., a user name - in order to do that because I will be asking for help in trying to improve the article. -- FClef 22:16, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
