Thank you for helping out in editing the language articles of Wikipedia. Keep in mind, though, that the shortened classification scheme you've proposed is somewhat contrary to the idea of "stating the obvious", a semi-guideline here at Wikipedia. Anyone who's not familiar with language taxonomy will not see notations of simply "North" as particularly self-evident, even if they're linked. The point here is to focus on clarity.

Also, while this does not involve the layout per se, there has been a minor edit war instigated by another anonymous user concerning this very issue that even lead to a violatio nof the three-revert rule as well as a general inability to discuss or respect the consensus opinion of other editors.
