Events and Trends
- Hagia Sophia, Constantinople, rebuilt (532-537)
- Under the leadership of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, general Belisarius fights many campaigns defeating, among others, the Vandals in North Africa, bringing their kingdom to an end.
- During the climate changes of 535-536, the sun reportedly becomes very dim and the weather is extraordinarily cold. This may have been caused by a huge volcanic eruption (possibly Krakatoa).
