4674 Pauling

4674 Pauling is a main belt asteroid. It was discovered by Eleanor F. Helin on 2 May 1989 from Palomar Observatory. Pauling measures about 8 km in diameter. It is named after the scientist Linus Pauling.

In 2004, a team of astronomers at the European Southern Observatory announced that Pauling is orbited by a small moon. The moon has received the provisional designation S/2004 (4674) 1. It is believed to measure 2.5 km in diameter and to orbit Pauling at a distance of 250 km.
