4-Methoxybenzoic acid, or anisic acid, is an organic compound which is a carboxylic acid found naturally in anise. It is a white crystalline solid which is soluble in water, alcohols, ether, and ethyl acetate.
4-Methoxybenzoic acid is known to have antiseptic properties. It is also used as an intermediate in the preparation of more complex organic compounds.
