R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour (2005) |
Gold (2006) |
R30: 30th Anniversary World Tour is a live DVD by the Canadian band Rush, that was released on November 22, 2005 in Canada and the U.S. and November 28, 2005 in Europe. The DVD was released in a standard and deluxe set. The deluxe version features two audio CDs of the DVD content as well as various interviews and extra live footage.
"Der Trommler" (somewhat unidiomatic German for "The Drummer": "ein Trommler" is somebody who plays a single drum, e.g., in a marching band; a drummer behind a drumkit would be called "ein Schlagzeuger") is the drum solo by Neil Peart. R30 Overture is an instrumental medley of several early Rush songs (one for each of the band's first six albums), with flashes of the band's history appearing in the background. Moreover, "Tom Sawyer" features bobbleheads of the band in the background (headbanging in time to the opening guitar riffs), and "Between the Wheels", a "lost-gem", had not been played live by the band since the 1980s. This concert also features several songs from the band's latest "cover songs" album, Feedback.
Several songs from the actual performance/tour have been omitted since they were also played during the Vapor Trails tour, and the band wanted to avoid releasing a product that was too similar to the Rush in Rio set.
