This episode begins with Officer Jenny annoucing to Viridian City that there may be possible Pokémon thieves nearby. Ash is then stopped by Jenny, to check he is not a thief, which is confimed by his Pokédex, Dexter. Jenny then drives off with Ash, taking him to the Pokémon Center. You are then briefly introduced to Team Rocket. Ash then arrives at the Pokémon center with Jenny, who begins to heal Pikachu. Ash then speaks to his Mother and Professor Oak via video Phone, and discusses the Pokémon he say. Misty then arrives shouting at Ash about his bike, but calms down once she hears about Pikachu. An alarm then annouces that an Aircraft containing Pokémon Thieves has been located. Team Rocket then attacks the Pokémon center, shutting off the power. The emergency "Pika Power" source is activated and the Pokéballs in the center are transported to the Pewter City center. After a some what failed attempt at battling Team Rocket, Ash runs away with Pikachu. However the Pikachu in the center attack them, and then Pikachu uses Misty's Bike to use a powerful Thunder Shock Attack, destroying the PokéCenter. Team Rocket decide that they will now try to catch Pikachu. Ash and Misty then begin to head through the Viridian Forest to Pewter City. The episode finishes with Ash attempting the catch a Caterpie.
