Sadly we cannot use the fact that you ("Eric Newton", "a colleague") were the person who tried to fix the article with a copyright violation. That is original research (i.e. not printed in a media outside of Wikipedia). The relevant policy page is at WP:NOR. It's not that we don't believe you, it's that we can't verify it. Sorry. If you put it up on a website or get it printed elsewhere we can use it. Broken S 01:48, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
- you wrote that you "can verify" in order to do that you must provide a reference or a link to a website. You provided neither so I reverted your change. Our records can't verify who you are (Eric Newton). Wikipedia records are part of wikipedia so in general it's best if someone else writes about them for us to quote them (or else it's original research). Broken S 21:22, 19 December 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Seigenthaler biography update
Hi Mr. Newton: Per your 11 January 2006 Sun-Sentinel article, I have linked your name in the John Seigenthaler Sr. article and the article on the controversy. I have also added basic biographical information about you in its own article. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia.
