User talk:212.135.1.53
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This IP address, 212.135.1.53, is registered to EasyNet UK, an Internet service provider through which thousands of individual users may connect to the internet. This IP may be randomly assigned to a different person when the current user disconnects. Warnings or messages left on this page may not be received by the intended user. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking.
If you are an unregistered user operating from this address and are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself. Please note this is a proxy IP address used by a large number of schools in the United Kingdom, ranging from age 4 upwards, so a large amount of vandalism can be expected. However, there are also a large number of mature and responsible students who have knowledge to share. I leave it to the judgement of the moderators whether it is sensible to make such a wide and unfocused edit ban. Apologies for this note not following the standard format of a user talk page, but it is my intention to bring this information to the moderator's attention 212.135.1.186 10:22, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

Please quit vandalising pages as you've done with Christ the Redeemer (statue). Don't ruin other users' work just because you have nothing better to do. antiuser 11:02, 22 May 2006 (UTC)

What on earth do students need to edit an already useful page for anyway?

Please stop adding nonsense to Wikipedia. It is considered vandalism. If you were just trying to experiment, then use the sandbox instead. Thank you. Hadal 12:00, 7 Feb 2005 (UTC)
Simple solution. Ban the IP address. This IP address is in conjunction with another school across the road. Banning the IP address MIGHT stop the problem
Don't put me in the dock if it doesn't though.

I am a student council member for Lawrence Sheriff School. I apologise for the behaviour of the few among our students who do not value wikipedia but would ask that you allow us to take some kind of internal action before blocking us from editing. I have a meeting later on today where I will bring this up.
If this continues to be an issue then rather than blocking the school from editing, could you please complain via email to the school? (There is an address on the site)
- I will keep an eye on this IP, but I can't promiss it won't be blocked. If there is a lot of vandalism going on, coming from this IP, in a short block of time, the IP will be blocked (often for a short time), to protect Wikipedia from the vandalism coming from the IP. If we, in such instances, have to email a school first, lots of vandalism can be done in the meantime, which is exactly what we are trying to prevent... You (or the school administrators) can always see the time and nature of the vandalism by clicking on 'user contributions'. Regards, --JoanneB 10:58, 20 October 2005 (UTC)

1 Week block
I realize this is a shared IP, but I just checked the user contribution log and over the past month, there have been 30 edits, 100% of which were vandalism. My apologies if some legitimate users get shut out by mistake, but this is absurd. I also fully realize that some other admin who is more politically correct than I am will come along and lift the block pretty soon. Sigh. We really need to get Wikipedia:Blocking policy proposal implemented soon. -- RoySmith (talk) 15:43, 8 June 2006 (UTC)
