This statement is incorrect.

"Ugg Boot In 1978, Australian surfer Brian Smith first took the ugg boot to America"

Please see the companies own website ( http://www.uggaustralia.com/History.asp ) to see that

"so he traveled west to do little surfing in California. Arriving there he was shocked to find that there was already a small group of well-traveled surfers who’d brought similar sheepskin boots back from Australia. He’d found his niche, and he never had to leave the beach."

Brian Smith was not the first to introduce this style to America. Australians and Americans alike have been wearing this style as early as the 1960s.
