[edit] License tagging for Image:Robinsonss.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Robinsonss.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Wikipedia Trivia

Please connect comment more directly to Westfield, and find some link proving this (a Washington Post Article for example). While this sounds self explanatory, please add why three high school openings in three adjacant counties is important enough for trivia. It's good, just needs a little oomph. :)

I see that you added some information to Potomac High School. I am planning on working on that site and use some of my own ideas since I started it. So if I make changes please do not interfear. Thank you. John R G 06:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] HTML tables and schools

HTML tables are strongly disrecommended for use in Wikipedia due to the difficulty of editing them and the large amount of storage space they require. Wikipedia has its own table markup for creating tables, which is detailed in Wikipedia:Tables.

Regarding school information, it should be formatted using a template such as {{infobox school}}, not by using a custom-made table with either HTML or wiki table markup. If you like, I can assist in transitioning the school articles to which you've added tables to suitable templates. — Saxifrage 02:52, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northern_Virginia_Scholastic_Hockey_League

Thanks for leaving my site alone. I do appreciate it. I found this site that you may be interested in. It seems Stone Bridge is pretty good in Ice Hockey. I added a category page to the site and I hope that it is a good one. Categories are not easy to make. John R G 17:36, 9 May 2006 (UTC)

If you want to you can add the schools from Loudoun County to this table I made. Category:Northern Virginia Scholastic Hockey League Teams John R G 18:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] VHSL Districts

I noticed you are making many pages related to the VHSL sports districts. I already made the one for the AAA Peninsula District, so if you would like to add information to what I already have, feel free to do so. I think it is great that you are doing what this for Wikipedia. Let me know if I can be of help. --No1lakersfan 02:29, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for telling me about your project. If you would ever like me to help you with other topics, let me know. I will try to add a little more information about what I know about the districts here in Hampton Roads.
Yes I have heard about Stone Bridge High School, not just because they played Hampton High School in the State Football Title game, but also because I have friends in that area. I am trying to make pages for the schools in Newport News first, since I am from there. If I am able to make pages later for other areas, I will try. Again, thanks for all that you do. --No1lakersfan 12:54, 29 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Reg ur edits to Virginia High School League

Reg ur edits to Virginia High School League, I can understand that ur edits were in good faith. However I'd suggest the related meta information (like pages being created as quickly as possible) be included in the talkpage of the article rather than in the article. Cheers. Happy Editing. -- Chez (Discuss / Email) • 03:56, 30 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:Dulles District Map.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dulles District Map.jpg. I notice the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this file yourself, then there needs to be a justification explaining why we have the right to use it on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you did not create the file yourself, then you need to specify where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the file also doesn't have a copyright tag, then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{fairusein|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. feydey 18:04, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Heritage High School

The history section seems riddled with a lot of guesses and opinion without any citations to back up the statements. For example:

After its tough opening, Heritage has become a source of pride in central Loudoun County.

Who thinks this? Is there any proof of this? This seems to be very much prevalent throughout the section. Some of your additions seem relevant but have no sources to back them up. Heritage offers a very wide variety of Advanced Placement courses for its students. Exactly how many does Heritage offer? Is their offering substantially different than courses offered at other LCPS high schools? If you could place a number on it that would be very helpful. I've seen you have done substantial work on this and many other LCPS articles, so I will wait to delete statements I don't think are supported strongly enough to appear in the article. If you could point me in the direction of available sources to substantiate some of these claims I would be happy to add citations to the article. -- Johnny06man 23:43, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:LibertyBealetonHS.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:LibertyBealetonHS.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Maggie L. Walker Governor's School for Government and International Studies

Hey -- I rv'd your edits to the MLWGSGIS Athletics section. It's not the smallest school in Group AAA per the VHSL directory -- John Marshall in Richmond is only the first school I found smaller, at 620 vs. 648. Regarding Group AAA's size guidelines, I understand that here in NoVA they're taken seriously. But in Richmond, just about everyone dogpiles into Group AAA for tradition and geography's sake -- all of the Richmond City schools play up despite being AA or even borderline A-size, as do several other schools in the Central Region. Given those facts, it seems fair to qualify the guideline as general. VT hawkeyetalk to me 03:03, 12 August 2006 (UTC) (GSGIS '97, now a 20191 resident)

[edit] Recent edits on Broad Run

20176, I noticed you're a contributor to the Broad Run HS article and would like your take on this. On 8/7/06 a user identified as Johnny06man made a number of changes to the article. Most of the information provided by this editor is factual, but I question the spin she/he placed on significant pieces of it, specifically commentary that certain school policies are perceived by students and staff as "a joke" (Spartan Read and FLEX). Johnny06man appears to be venturing into editorializing.

Also, what is hidden in the manner in which her/his edits were performed is the insertion of the statement into the Band History section that the band teacher Kelley was "falsely accused by a disgruntled freshman upset with her grade in his class" with no supporting evidence. All earlier versions stick to the published news articles. There certainly was an awful lot of speculation about the veracity of the accusations during that time, but publicly-known facts are scanty and do not support this assertion.

I'm suggesting we revert that section (Band History) back to the earlier version and remove any editorial comments. Unfortunately, there is no user page for Johnny06man, so there's no way to include her/him in this discussion. What do you think?

[edit] Battlefield High School

Just to let you know that I've reverted your edits to Battlefield High School - the old version also contained the infobox, logo etc. so it looks just as professional. The version you had put in (aside from being a blatant violation of WP:COI as it was written by a school employee) isn't consistent with WP:NPOV, which is one of the three core content policies and is therefore non-negotiable. Cynical 14:21, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

Don't worry too much about policies - if you make a mistake, people will generally point it out nicely. I've been two years and I still haven't read all of the damn stuff, hasn't done me any harm :P Cynical 11:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)
