The 1st Alaska State Legislature was elected November 25, 1958, upon the passage of the Alaska Statehood Act, and convened immediately after official statehood in 1959.

- Speaker of the House: Warren A. Taylor (D-Fairbanks)
- ^ Appointed to the Alaska Superior Court between sessions. Seaborn J. Buckalew (D) was appointed to his seat for the second session.
- ^ Appointed to the Alaska Superior Court between sessions. Rep. Bob Giersdorf (D) was appointed to his seat January 29, 1960, but resigned three days later as he was not old enough to become a senator. Edmund Olbeck (D), in turn, replaced him.
- ^ Appointed state attorney general between sessions. Blanche L. McSmith (D) was appointed to his seat for the second session.
- ^ Appointed January 29, 1960 to replace outgoing Sen. Hubert Gilbert for the second session, but re-assumed his old seat February 2, 1960. Edmund Olbeck (D) filled his House seat in the interim.
