When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. —Keenan Pepper 18:34, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Online Collaboration Re: Levitron
Collaboration is normal, given the nature of Wikipedia. Once the bulk of information has been entered however, edits tend to be minor (punctuation and the like). This entry: Levitron ; has seen multiple reversion entries by mainly two contributors. Considering the lack of discussion regarding these changes, it appears that this is not a collaborative effort? Editing battles run contrary to the goal of the Wikipedian community, but I have yet to see a situation from where a resolution cannot be reached. Perhaps you could share some background or relevant experience in relation to the entry? Naturally, one does not need to be an expert to contribute, but the rising tide of good information lifts all Wikipedia boats :) -- [TheGreatScott]
