[edit] Gretzky: NPOV?

"Had the Oilers won five in a row, it is highly unlikely that Wayne Gretzky would have been traded when he was as Edmonton would have had a chance to beat the Canadiens record of five in a row. As it was, the Oilers won five Cups in seven years -- the last Cup sans Gretzky."

I am curious if there is a source for this, or if this is just the authors opinion. I have never heard this theory before, and I would like to know where it came from. It strikes me as nothing more than speculation by the author at this point. Resolute 16:17, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

I agree -- this text seems awfully speculative. From memory, Peter Pocklington's motivation for trading/selling Gretzky had very little to do with cup victories, and much more to do with his financial situation. Andrwsc 20:18, 15 May 2006 (UTC)
