1980 UK Snooker Championship

The 1980 Coral UK Championship took place at the Guildhall, Preston bewteen 22 November and 29 November 1980.

BBC Television coverage had been extended to eight days after the success of other competions such as the World Championship and the UK Championship was the most succesful at the time. Steve Davis took his first major title after making his first major quarter-final the previous year whitewashing Terry Griffiths 9-0 in the semi-final and massively beating Alex Higgins 16-6 in the final to claim it starting the Davis era in snooker.
