Talk:1966 Atlantic hurricane season

[edit] Weird Season
Has anyone else noticed exactly how weird this season was? Alma became a major hurricane in June, only a handful of systems have done that. Faith traveled farther than any other tropical system in the Atlantic (though the 1899 storm came close) and only stopped because it ran out of ocean. Inez affected every country in the Greater Antilles and stopped right off Miami Beach and then came back. Finally, Kendra decieved the best tropical cyclone forcasters in the world to become the Atlantic Basin's only named tropical depression. I find that to be a pretty amazing crowd, myself.

- Agreed. Alma was one of four major hurricanes in June, Becky became one of only 5 July hurricanes to reach hurricane strength north of 35ยบ, Celia and Dorothy became the earliest 3rd and 4th hurricanes of a season since 1900, Faith.... what a long lived storm, Inez, you said it, and Kendra becoming a named tropical depression. Sure, there were boring storms like Ella, Greta, and Judith, but this was quite a season. Hurricanehink 23:57, 3 October 2005 (UTC)

- Um, Kendra was a gale center, like Mike (1950). These two systems were removed from the database since they were not considered tropical cyclones, not because they were too weak. The associated changes have been made on this page and in the notable cyclone page. Thegreatdr 20:26, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
