Widely distrubted Ford Factory styling view of the proposed 1960 Edsel Comet. With Edsel in trouble, Ford transferred the car to the Mercury sales division, redesigned the grill and sold the vehicle in 1960 simply as the Comet; officially the Comet joined the Mercury line-up in 1961. From the personal collection of auto ephemera (over 4,000 pieces spanning 1900-1975) owned by Stude62.
