  • Ron Mix, OT, USC - taken 1st round, 10th overall by the Baltimore Colts. Inducted in 1979.
  • Larry Wilson, DB, Utah - taken 7th round, 74th overall by the Chicago Cardinals. Inducted in 1978.

  • The draft was held in secret in order to fend off increased competition for college players from the American Football League, which began play in 1960. Many players, including half of those drafted in the first round, signed with the new league, including first overall pick and Heisman Trophy winner Billy Cannon.
