Attention:

This IP address, 195.93.21.38, is the address of a shared AOL (formerly America Online) web proxy server and may be shared by hundreds of AOL users at any given time (see AOL ranges). Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this is not the IP address of your machine. 195.93.21.38 is the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. These and other proxies are shared among thousands of AOL users. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

Activity on this IP looks like mix of vandalims and good edits. If this is shared address I suggest genuine editors to set up user account so their contribution won't get mixed together with vandalism (which is in danger of reverting). Thanks. Pavel Vozenilek 14:34, 26 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Again one vandalism [http//en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Comecon&diff=prev&oldid=21179769], while other edits from the same period look valid. If the good editors(s) obtain user name it would be easier to sort out what is vandalism. Pavel Vozenilek 19:20, 17 August 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wikilinking

Hi! I've just undone some of your edits to Oldham - it's accepted style here to only wikilink to an article the first time it's mentioned (no need to link to Greater Manchester five times), not to link to the same page that is being read (ie no need to link Oldham on Oldham) and only to link to really pertinent articles (no need to link to actress or scholar from a geography article. I've reincluded all your useful input, though.

If you want more guidance, take a look at WP:CONTEXT - it's very useful.

Thanks for your contribution, see you around on more Oldham related articles! Aquilina 12:41, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AOL Shared Proxy: Don't lose heart!

Hey ^_^

This IP address is definitely for an AOL shared proxy, because it includes my computer! I receive vandalism warnings (quite rightly) until I sign in, at which point they all stop. Quite apart from asking the people who have been vandalising wikipedia from this IP address (and, indeed, others) to stop, I notice that people mentioned valid edits from this address being made for at least a year, and since I'm a fairly recent user there must be other people using this proxy who wish to contribute properly. Please would any valid users either sign up for an account (as I have done, it's quite fun ^_^) or at the very least not be dissuaded by vandalism warnings - it would be a shame if you chose not to contribute because of the actions of people who seem to have no interest in helping with this amazing site.

Good luck to everyone else on this proxy! Alfirin 13:07, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
