[edit] WWII start
Oh dear, edit wars ahoy ;-)
Most historians concede that WW2 started on September 1st 1939 with the German invasion of Poland. There is no doubt that existing conflicts came to be seen as part of this world war, but are not in themselves accepted as THE start of the war. This is a small but important difference. Otherwise I guess the Spanish Civil War could be considered the start of WW2, or even WW1! GRAHAMUK 07:19, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
You are 100% correct in your assertion. WWII started on September 1st. Incidents that occurred before are seen as the run-up to the War or a contributary factor, but the date the war is said to have started is with Hitler's invasion of Poland and nothing else. FearÉIREANN 19:24, 6 Aug 2003 (UTC)
As per discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Years the year in topic paragraph is scheduled to be deleted as it largely duplicates the links in the top box, and is not consistent with other year. Any objections should be made on that page please --BozMo|talk 19:34, 4 Jul 2004 (UTC)

The stuff about Ethiopia sounds a little biased against the Italians.Cameron Nedland 23:35, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
