[edit] Race Report

The first time the Silver Arrows manufacturer teams from Mercedes-Benz and Auto Union had competed in Britain came as a shock [1] to the locals as they watched the hugely powerful and thunderous German cars wipe the floor with the British entrants. Lang led the first few laps but had to retire with a broken damper, as well as British hero Richard Seaman. The lead changed hands several times between von Brauchitsch, Rosemeyer and Caracciola. Whilst leading for a second time, von Brauchitsch suffered a puncture and Rosemeyer was back in front and stayed there to take a well earned victory.
