This image, and any other scanned image of United States coinage or currency – save possibly those which are a part of a professional studio's arrangement – are all public domain. Most professional images of United States coins and currency, are actually taken by the personnel working for the w:Smithsonian Institute, and are therefore still at least w:fair use images if they are properly credited.
