1848 Whig National Convention
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
After four years out of the White House, the Whig Party congregated in Baltimore to nominate a candidate for the presidency. Hoping the formula that had brought success in 1840 would do so again, the delegates nominated Zachary Taylor, former popular general but a political novice. Millard Fillmore received the nomination to the vice-presidency. The ticket would go on to win the 1848 election over Democrats Lewis Cass and William Butler.
