1806 English cricket season

In the 1806 English cricket season, the first two Gentlemen versus Players matches took place but the match did not occur again until 1819. It became an annual fixture from 1829 until 1962. During the 1830s it was often played as an odds fixture with the Players being handicapped.
A meeting of St Anne’s Cricket Club in Barbados is the earliest reference to cricket in the West Indies.
