[edit] Re: question
I reverted your edits because I was concerned for the following reasons:
- Adding links on many pages that point to the same web site is sometimes an attempt to give that web site a higher rank on search engines (Spamdexing).
- The pages you linked to were short and didn't, in my opinion, have any additional value than the content in the article itself or the links already there.
- Wikipedia is not a collection of external links (What Wikipedia is not).
Please don't take my reverts personal, they are not. - TexMurphy 08:00, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

- It is indeed the label they are on and I apologise for being too quick on the revert button. I won't delete the links if you put them back. - TexMurphy 09:03, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Your edits to George Strait
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did in George Strait. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites that you are affiliated with, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.
Please note that the external link you added was previously added and reverted on 03 October 2006. --JFreeman (talk) 19:23, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
You replied on my talk page:
- I put up that link because that site represents an accurate picture of him as an artist it also offers exclusive information from the label he is on. I feel it is unfair to allow unofficial links but not the ones from the label that actually has the correct information. Also the information on that page is approved by the artist for use. It is simply a place for fans to learn more. Is there a way to resolve this?
Thanks for the reply. I deleted the link because: 1) It leads to a page that clearly tries to sell UMG's music; and 2) It had already been added and removed in the past month. Probably the best thing to do is to bring up the question on Talk:George Strait, the Wikipedia discussion page for George Strait. If there's a consensus to go ahead and add the link (maybe replacing others), that should also keep the link from getting removed again. I noticed you've added similar links for other artists; if you run into similar problems with those links, that would be the way to resolve them, too. --JFreeman (talk) 20:42, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for experimenting with the page The Lex Diamond Story on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and it has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you may want to do. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. TheRanger 20:35, 6 November 2006 (UTC)
