[edit] Please Remove the Block
To whom it may concern:
I am a Baltimore County Public Schools student who uses this encyclopedia for the vast majority of my research. I was recently upset by the fact that I can no longer edit articles and continue to assist the wiki community. I am a strong proponent of open source and wiki related projects. Please tell me what steps need to be taken to unblock BCPS's IP address.
Thank You. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.196.98.42 (talk • contribs) 12:09, 9 March 2006.
- Regrettably, the use of shared IPs brings about this kind of problems all the time. It's strongly advisable that you get yourself a registered username (it's free and you don't even have to fill in an e-mail address). That way you won't be lumped in with the vandals using your same IP. Also note that the block does not impede research, since you can still search for and read articles. --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 17:23, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
Hey, aresef here. Had to log out to post this, oddly. I'm a BCPS student and I cannot edit pages while logged in. Yes, blocking does not hinder research. However, it hinders the ability to add on to what's already there. I went to clean up an article while logged in only to discover this IP was blocked regardless of my own standing with Wikipedia.--151.196.98.43 15:09, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
- User:Hall Monitor has blocked this IP; the block log says "have your system administrator contact me." I suggest you do that. The block is extremely long in my opinion, but I can't say it's unwarranted. --Pablo D. Flores (Talk) 16:45, 24 March 2006 (UTC)
