13th Regiment of Foot

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 13th Regiment of Foot was a regiment of the British Army formed in 1751. It traced its history back to 1685 when it was the Earl of Huntingdon's Foot Regiment.

In common with most regiments it changed its name several times. See The Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert's) for a full list. From the 1820s onwards it was popularly, but never formally, called the Somerset Light Infantry.

It remained an identifiable regiment until merger in 1959.
