1200 Techniques
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1200 Techniques was an Australian hip hop group. They formed in 2000 and released two LPs before going on hiatus in 2005.
Their 2001 track Hard as Hell received airplay on Triple J. Their first album Choose One was released in 2002 and was followed by several nationwide tours. This helped to not only increase their profile across the country, but that of the fledgeling Australian hip hop industry itself. The first single from this album was "Karma", which reached the top 40 of the Australia ARIAnet singles chart.
Their 2004 release Consistency Theory featured the singles Eye of the Storm and Where Ur At?. The former received some airplay on mainstream radio, however the latter achieved considerable success by gaining them a second top 40 hit in the singles chart. On the back of this album, the group appeared as part of the Big Day Out festival in early 2004.
Unlike many hip-hop groups, 1200 Techniques have a sound able to be reproduced live. Shows featured a live drummer in addition to DJ Peril and also featured Kemstar's guitar solos.
Nfamas & DJ Peril have branched out into their solo careers with Nfamas renaming himself N'Fa and releasing two singles "Left Right Left" & "Cause An Effect" the latter's video clip was produced by Australian actor Heath Ledger, who is friends with Nfamas. He has released his album "Cause An Effect" along with a third single "Seduction Is Evil (She's Hot)".
DJ Peril has released a solo album called "King Of The Beats" releasing the single "It's About To Blow" featuring Melbourne Hip Hop group Suburban Intellect and "Rock Ya Baby" featuring singer Rahsaan Patterson & MC Surreal of Suburban Intellect.
DJ Peril is currently signed to the Street Elite record label.
Kemstar is so far the only member not to have branched out into a solo career.
