Album covers, especially ones from 1982, are surely restricted by copyright. I very much doubt Wikipedia has permission to place them under the GNU FDL. -- Bignose

My understanding is that the GNU FDL only applies to the text of articles - cover art, sound samples and so on can be uploaded under fair use. As a last resort, if somebody asks us to take this stuff down, we can take it down, so there's no real problem with it. This sort of thing has been discussed a fair bit recently (mainly on the mailing list), and the consensus seems to be that if it's OK under fair use, then there's nothing to worry about. --Camembert 01:14 Jan 4, 2003 (UTC)

I agree with Camembert. Imagine if you open an online music store, do you have to ask for permission to use the cover picture? I doubt it. Taku 01:17 Jan 4, 2003 (UTC)
