[edit] Emocide?
Not deleting it, but I don't think it should be there.
Never heard of emocide, probably a mean poke at emos. I'm deleting it.- AntiCruise
[edit] Homocide v. Homicide
- Google provides over 800 results for "homocide" and "homosexual" [1]. Gemini6Ice 29 June 2005 05:13 (UTC)
- So what? google gives 32,000 hits where it is a typo of homicide. Of your 800 the vast majority is the same. That a couple of smarties in blogs decided it is a good joke to read it as homocide is not the reason to list it here. mikka (t) 29 June 2005 15:05 (UTC)
- I attempted to contact you through your talk page to discuss before I reverted the page, yet you did not respond. I wish that others users would express their opinions on this matter as well. Your authority trumps a stalemate on the issue, but one person's opinion (on either side) is not enough to necessarily validate deletion (or inclusion). Gemini6Ice 29 June 2005 18:57 (UTC)
- Some citations and quotations: Gemini6Ice 7 July 2005 21:50 (UTC)
-
- "According to the Bahia Gay Group, there is an average of one homosexual murder every three days in Brazil, putting the country in first place worldwide for "homocide," as the group calls the murders (LP, Jan. 23, 1997)." [2]
- "But when a few of us in GLF began scouring libraries and the basement archives of museums and the public record office, we discovered buried fragments of past queer lives. It was shocking to learn that gay men faced the death penalty until 1861, and life imprisonment until 1967. Via contacts with the queer rights movement in Germany, we began to piece together details of the Nazi bid to exterminate homosexuals. From this history of "homocide", we liberated the pink triangle that the Nazis forced gay concentration camp prisoners to wear - turning it into a symbol of pride and defiance." [3]
- In both of the above citations, "homocide" is used in quotes, moreover the first one adds "as the [Bahia Bay Group] calls the murders". This just reinforces my feeling that "homocide" is pretty far from being or even becoming mainstream, and therefore I wouldn't list it in the article. "Homicide" is another story, it's a word that has existed for ages, and means simply "manslaughter", which is correctly reflected by the article. [edit] I've heard homocide used
Mikkalai, on your user page you admit that your knowledge of the English language is limited. English neologisms can't be an area of your expertise. Floopy 7 July 2005 15:59 (UTC)
I've only heard homicide used, and only then in American contexts. Every other instance has just used murder or manslaughter ~~~~ 9 July 2005 18:27 (UTC)
- rfc comment - since this is just a list, I would suggest the thing to do is to vfd homocide. If it survives (which I doubt), then link to it. Rd232 13:29, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Chronocide?
I heard it somewhere, can't remember where. It's likely just a joke (killing time) but still... Anyone? 86.134.190.230 11:09, 21 August 2006 (UTC)
