User talk:ライケン

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia!

By the way...

"All the Big 5 members' family names start with the kanji (大) for "big" or "large", read as "ou" for the names of the first four, and as "dai" for the fifth member."

Actually, it's "oo" - but on Wikipedia we use macrons, so I replaced it with "Ō". WhisperToMe 20:37, 30 April 2006 (UTC)

Ah, yea, temporarily forgot the "extended 'o' is represented by an o when following a consonantless o" rule :p ~ライケン

Also, I am going to have to ask you to use the dub names in the case of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. We have decided to use the dub names with GX - While with the original series the manga and anime adaptations differ in naming, the GX series stuff seems to have uniform naming. I see. Unfortunately, I have a few problems with that - in short, I am not familiar with nor do I acknowledge the US version of the franchise, as all indications are that it takes far too many liberties with the story and characters of the series. The information I provide applies to the original version of the series, as it's the only version of Yugiou GX I am familiar with, and thus may not apply to the US version. However, I have already spoken with another user on this matter, and I agree that endless edit wars are wastes of all our time, so I will not knowingly change a US name to an original one. That having been said, I will not myself use the US names, as I refuse to spread what I consider false information.

But despite that, you still have to follow general Wikipedia conventions. In general, use the names most commonly known by Anglophone audiences. There is consensus with Yu-Gi-Oh! GX editors that the series must use English names in general. The articles acknowledge the original Japanese names and differences between versions, so this invalidates your contention. You can use Japanese names when talking about something specific to the Japanese series. Also, you can always call the said characters by whatever names you wish on the talk pages and on other websites. WhisperToMe 06:36, 13 May 2006 (UTC)

Also, when referring to Japanese GX characters' names, we use Western order (first name then last name) on purpose. WhisperToMe 06:41, 13 May 2006 (UTC)
