Žarnovica (German: Scharnowitz; Hungarian: Zsarnóca) is a town and municipality in the Žarnovica District, Banská Bystrica Region in Slovakia. The town is situated at the Hron River Valley. As of 2002, it had a population of 6,596 people. It is the headquarters of the Žarnovica District.
