Şahînê Bekirê Soreklî

Şahînê Bekirê Soreklî or Shahin Bekir Sorekli or Chahin Baker, (1946- ), is a Kurdish writer, poet and translator. He was born in the village of Mezrê in the region of Kobani in Syria. He moved to Australia in 1968 and studied at Macquarie University. Since 1978, he is working at the Education Ministry of the New South Wales government. In 1979, he was elected as the head of the first Kurdish association in Australia and managed it for six years. Between 1982 and 1983, he broadcasted a one-hour long Kurdish weakly program at 2SER FM Radio, and since 1985 he has been the director of the Kurdish radio program in Special Broadcasting Service of Australia. His short stories, articles and poems have been published in many Kurdish newpapers and magazines.
