Øyestad

Øyestad is a former municipality in Aust-Agder county, Norway.
It was created in 1837 as Øyestad formannskapsdistrikt. It would experience three splits in which districts were separated from Øyestad to create municipalities of their own: Fjære in 1846, Froland in 1850 and Hisøy on 1 January 1881. The last split left Øyestad with a population of 4,474.
On 1 January 1992 Øyestad was incorporated into Arendal municipality, along with Hisøy, Tromøy and Moland. Prior to the merger Øyestad had a population of 8,679.
