Ørbæk municipality

Ørbæk municipality is a municipality (Danish, kommune) in Funen County on the east coast of the island of Funen in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 138 km², and has a total population of 6,886 (2005). Its mayor is Kaj Refslund, a member of the Venstre (Liberal Party) political party.
The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Ørbæk. Other towns in the municipality are Måre, Refsvindinge, Svindinge, Tårup, and Tårup Strand.
Neighboring municipalities are Nyborg, Ullerslev and Årslev to the north, Ringe and Ryslinge to the west, and Gudme to the south. To the east is the Little Belt.
By January 1, 2007 Ørbæk municipality will cease to exist as the result of Kommunalreformen ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). It will be merged with existing Nyborg and Ullerslev municipalities to form a new Nyborg municipality. This will create a municipality with an area of 278 km² and a total population of 31,009 (2005). The new municipality will belong to the new Region Syddanmark ("South Denmark Region").
