Édouard Naville

Captaine Henri Édouard Naville (1844-1926) was a Swiss egyptologist. He studied in London, Paris and Berlin (under Karl Richard Lepsius).

He first journeyed to Egypt in 1865, and published the myths of Horus from the temple at Edfu in 1870.

During the Franco-Prussian War he served as a captain in the Swiss army.

In 1882, he began to work with the Egypt Exploration Fund in the Delta.

He died at Malagny, near Geneva.
