Çandarlı is a sea-side town with own municipality depending the Dikili district center in Turkey's İzmir Province and an important tourist's resort. It is situated on the northern coast of a gulf that carries the same name as the town (Gulf of Çandarlı) and opposite the important industrial center of Aliağa. Çandarlı's former name in antiquity was Pitane. The town's landmark is the 15th century Ottoman castle built by Çandarlı (2nd) Halil Pasha, still fully intact.
