Æthelfrith of Wessex

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Æthelfrith (c. 870-927), Ealdorman of Wessex, was the son of Aethelhelm, brother of Elfleda of Wessex, and the first Ealdorman of Wessex. While Elfleda became Queen consort to King Edward the Elder, Aethelfrith lived the life of a common landlord. Aethelfrith had one son, Eadric, and through this line is an ancestor to Harold Godwinson, the last Anglo-Saxon King of England.
