Åsgårdstrand

Åsgårdstrand is a town in Vestfold, Norway. It had city status until 1965, when it was split between the municipalities of Horten and Tønsberg.
Originally founded in the 16th century as a center for shipwrights and lumber, it has evolved into a tourist destination and artists' colony. Among the notable artists with ties to Åsgårdstrand are Edvard Munch, Christian Krogh, and Hans Heyerdahl.
