(216) (band)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(216) is a Cleveland, Ohio based speed metal band that formed in early 1997. All the band's members (Jason, Dave, Steve, and Jack) are or were apart of the alternative metal band Mushroomhead. Unlike Mushroomhead the band didn't wear masks. (216) used to open up for Mushroomhead at shows once in awhile, but the double set got to be too much for the guys to do this all of the time.

(216) played their first show on 6/27/97 at Peabody's Downunder in Cleveland. Their first release was a split 7" vinyl with Schnauzer in the summer of '97. (216)'s side contained two tracks, Step Up and This Resistance, that were recorded live while they were rehearsing on 6/19/97 at their practice space. They recorded their full-length cd on March 2nd & 3rd of 1998, and it was released a couple of months later. (216) got a huge response and prevailed as the top Mushroomhead side project and soon were headlining their own shows.

(216) still only performs in and around Cleveland. The band name comes from the area code for Cleveland.
